Lyrics
EXPLORERS

I.
It's a very strange experience,
to wake up here again;
to take the wheel on this ride called “life”
that I've been given.
Not knowing what the new day,
just might have in store.
I look around put the peddle to the floor.

II.
Hail you fellow traveler!
How on earth have you been?
It seems like its been eons,
since I last saw you my friend.
You seem no worse for the wear
underneath your wrinkled skin.
God’s image is still shining like a beacon!

CHORUS:
After all that we have been through,
after all that we have seen,
from the sylvan heights of beauty,
to the depths of the obscene...
We're explorers by nature,
and we'll search forevermore;
looking for the truth behind each door.

III.
Oh I humbly beg your pardon,
---I just can't remember when,
or where it was exactly,
that we last shook hands my friend.
The years have been unfriendly.
My memories growing dim;
but the love of God’s still burning deep within!

IV.
All the pleasures we have shared...
all the pains we have endured;
in life's school of experience,
many lessons we have learned.
Now's the time to apply, the wisdom we have gained;
before we see the fallin' of the hard rain.

CHORUS:
After all that we have been through,
after all that we have seen,
from the sylvan heights of beauty,
to the depths of the obscene...
We're explorers by nature,
and we'll search forevermore;
looking for the truth behind each door.

To be continued...
Now
and
evermore!

Don my brother, this song is about you and I in so many ways.
Like the GD put it: "What a long strange trip it's been."
As we near the finish line, GRATITUDE for all of it...

Well friend, aging does have a bit of the melancholy in it, doesn't it?
---But it's not all gloom and doom in my experience.
I'm 71 now, and finding new pains to replace old pains, and more importantly, new JOYS to add to old joys.
This life is an adventure. IMHO the master key to it all is to play the hand your dealt and to play it well!
Glad you enjoyed the tune Sir!
Be well!

Back in the mid to late 1970s I was actually performing live with an acoustic folk group. We played parks, street corners, prisons, and even got on local TV once. There were four of us and I was lead singer, as well as the composer of 80% of our tunes. It was a fun time.
In 1980 I sold my guitar and gave up on music so I could concentrate on raising my family.
I never got around to performing solo in a coffee shop, although I always wanted to.
This faux "live" recording represents what I imagine I might have sounded like in a cafe type venue.
Glad you enjoyed it!
