Song information
Written in and recorded in 2020 after seeing "The Call Of The Wild" movie and reading Jack London's book as well. Gave it an early Genesis feel with the harmonizing acoustic guitars and all. Had this on the old MacJams site, initially.

Lyrics
The day is colder than I remember with the winds blown
I dream of warmer days and sunshine I might have known
You can't help but enjoy the chase of rabbits through the grass
Running with those in my pack below the pass

A mountain can be so cold in the darkest days of the year
But in the circle of things, there's no time to fear
Once you settle on a hill in this life
You wouldn't trade it no matter how hard the strife

And here in front of a mine with my new offspring
There's no telling what the next spring will bring
I think of facing the bear in the claim for carrion

Master's gone now but I found a new home
I look to the blue and grey sky where the crossbills roam
Sooner or later I go in for the kill
Up the snowy hillside where the moonlight thrills

And humans can't find us
Cause we're fast and we're smart
We can hide ourselves in a cave before you even start
