Lyrics
WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

I
When we were young we played to win,
—cast all caution to the wind,
—roll of the dice and off we’d go again!

Thumbed our nose at society,
in our childish naiveté;
—railed against it’s hypocrisy and sins.

1st Chorus:
We were so young how could we know,
     —which way to go, on life’s rocky road?
So many questions in our minds…
In the end we were all just running blind!

II
Then came responsibilities!
We settled into new routines.
At last we took our place in the machine.

We learned the art of compromise.
Our absolutism died;
but we still idealized and dreamed…

2nd Chorus:
We were so young, how could we see,
which way to be, while staying free?
So many voices in our heads…
In the end just tryin’ to stay fed!

[Instrumental Section]

III
The circling years have come and gone,
with battles lost and battles won;
we’re still livin’ under the gun, aren’t we?

We fight the fight and do our best;
—hold our convictions in our breast.
Each generation learns these things afresh…

3rd Chorus:
We live with one foot in the past;
the other in the future, ever mindful of our task.
We all have songs that must be sung.
Some things haven’t changed since we were young…

Glad I checked in. to find this- at last... It was an Honor to work on this. To be included also with Macoco and Tom's skills.. This song stays in my head as much as any classic rock song I have heard back in the day.  I'd call this a 'new classic rock' recording.. I will share this with other rock boomers

Perfectly balanced music with great vocal performance, as usual. Nice instrumental section. I guess it hasn't been easy to do such a collab with all these great artists.

I'm so sorry I haven't been responding to all you folks' nice comments.
I've just been so busy, with family and with making music.
Sometimes a guys just gotta step back and exhale!
Anyway, thanks again to one and all for the kind words and continual support.

THANKS from the bottom of my heart Mike to make me play an iCollab again!: always wanted to play with Joyce and Tom since late iComp. Always loved their music... and in iBand I´ve discovered yours: you are a power plant of music making, I wish I have your energy... but most of all, your will to gather ideas and persons to fullfill your goal. You are a breath of fresh ears to my ears. Thanks for make me playing bass again. Maco.

Mac I am the real winner here!
I consider myself blessed to get to work with a fine musician like yourself.
I'm relieved that you still feel good about the experience even after all my screw ups!
You ROCK my friend!
