Song information
When I first started recording I worked in an early version of Garage Band. Then, at the recommendation of a friend, in January of 2007 I switched over to Logic Express 7. Everything I recorded after that, until my Mac G5 crashed in late 2011, was done on that DAW.

This was the first song I recorded in LE7. I was still learning the ropes, so the recording came out a tad sketchy.

Anyway, after the Mac crash this song went missing. Recently I found it on a mislabelled CD compilation of my early tunes, along with one other song I’d thought lost forever.

I immediately went to remastering it.

Although some will not believe it, this song recounts the true story of how I met my wife Diana in a dream three years before meeting her in the flesh!

Explain it away if you must, but for me it is axiomatic that “what explain away explains nothing!”

Enjoy!

Lyrics
Sometimes Dreams Come True

I
When I was a young man
I was lonely as can be.
I was searching for a soul-mate:
for someone to complete me.

Then there you were, late one night
a-standing in my dream.
I could not believe my eyes.
I asked: “What can this mean?”

A simple smile was your reply,
as I looked in your shining eyes.
I fell in love! I can’t deny it;
but then came the morning light.
Then came the morning light…

I awoke to the bitter day.
All trace of you was blown away.
I was left with your memory;
and your smile, it kept haunting me…

II
But life, it goes on.
Three long years had passed.
The dream nearly forgotten,
—a relic of my past.

Then you appeared one sunny day,
a-standing right in front of me.
I could not believe my eyes!
You were the woman from my dream!

All the old feelings flooded back,
as your eyes did shine at me.
It was that very moment I knew,
you are my destiny.
You are my destiny…

Hold on to your dreams,
whatever else you may do.
It’s a strange strange fact of life:
sometimes dreams come true!

Yeah!

HOLD ON!

Amazing and incredible story that I hadn't heard from you before. Neat intro. Sometimes dreams are like a finely focused telescopic look into the future. So glad you two crossed paths in the cosmic journey of life.

Certainly one of the most incredible "how we met" stories! There's plenty we can't explain in this world...really enjoyed this one, glad it was not lost to time and technological catastrophy!

Hi'ya brother!
Yes, while some dreams are indeed "just a bit of undigested beef," there are some which are far more than that.
The dream I recount in this song is a perfect example of the latter type.
Glad you enjoyed the song Don.

RE technological catastrophies: I've been pretty lucky so far. Over the years I've only lost one song beyond recovery! That one was no great loss.
However, I mourned the loss of THIS song for 13 years; then suddenly there it was!
Color me grateful!

Thank you Omar! The guitar sounded overly harsh on the source track. Fortunately I was able to smooth it over a little in the remastering process.

Diana, in mythology, was a magnificent Huntress. Beautiful tribute with chunky guitar

Indeed, Diana was the Roman version of the Greek Artemis.

Sometimes dreams are so vivid you can’t help but feel they’re meaningful. Most probably aren’t but this sounds like something extraordinary. I wonder if you never had that dream would you have been as smitten? Or did Diana just blow you away? I enjoyed this and the story with it Mike.

"I wonder if you never had that dream would you have been as smitten? Or did Diana just blow you away?"
Charlie my friend, I only remembered the dream AFTER I met her and yes---I was blown away. What happened happened. Nothing to "explain."
Things like this occur quite often and on a global scale, and have since the dawn of recorded history. Only thoroughly Westernized (read: materialistic) societies seem have a problem with this aspect of reality, and therefore have a compulsive need to explain them away. Experiences like this rock the boat of their reductionist worldview. The reaction is understandable.
The time is coming for each one of us when the curtain will be dawn aside and the materialist dream will be dissolved. For some---too few in the West---this happens during their life time. For most only in or after "death."
In both cases argument is swallowed up by an experience against which there can be no argument.
SHEESH! I guess I should never reply to comments when heavily caffeinated! LOL...
Anyway bro, glad you enjoyed the tune.

"thoughtful and insightful..." OK, but how correct an answer is it?
Time will tell!
Meanwhile we're all condemned to follow our best lights.
As for the coffee... Probably won't be giving it up anytime soon. LOL...

perfect how you craft the arrangement to support the storytelling... that's how you wear the producer hat!

I'd like to take a bow on that point Scott but I can't. This was written like almost all of my stuff. I never know what the song will be about until I'm well into the recording process. At some point the music begins to evoke a certain mood, and only then does the story and the lyrics begin to kick in.
Thanks for listening and commenting bro!
