Song information
Been only two days since my last post. I don't normally post again so fast. I think it makes it difficult for folks to keep up when one posts every other day. I prefer to wait a week. (People have lives after all!)

I'm making an exception just this once.

I probably should have done this during the Winter Solstice/Christmas season; but it’s still Winter so what the heck! Better late than never I say...

Years ago, at the now defunct Macjams.com site, my good friend Vic Holman posted two short songs together as a “single.” I always thought this a rather novel idea.

These two SHORT acoustic pieces were first recorded (and posted separately) somewhere in 2009 I think. They kind of go together thematically and musically, so I thought I’d post them as a “single.”

“A-side”: CHILD OF LIGHT.
An instrumental.

“B-Side”: KOSMOS (Book Of Days Reprise).
A follow up to my “Book Of Days” rocker posted here in April of 2024.

Hope you folks can enjoy this little experiment of mine.

Be well all!

Lyrics
KOSMOS
(Book Of Days Reprise)

Earth, Moon, Sun and the stars,
spiraling out in space;
---dancing in time, in cyclical rhyme,
floating in Love’s embrace.

ONE Mind sees it all,
the great and the small;
---patterns of light eternally traced.

Silently breathing—my saving grace…
I’m just turning a page
in this book of days.

A darn cool experiment if I may say so myself. The acoustic fingerpicking is especially cool.   The effect on the vocal goes really well with the music.

Very nice!  Both of them.  I especially like the first one - it sounds medieval/renaissance.  The second one is also very good.  I could listen to a lot more of these!

Well played guitar.  It is calming.  It let's you think.  Enjoyed the melodies.  Drifts along and carries you with it.

Thanks Omar. I don't do a lot of acoustic because it's easier to hide one's mistakes with amplification and distortion. Lol... But I think these turned out decently enough.

Thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed my "experiment."
Thanks for the props on my fingerpicking. This was way before I buggered up my left hand.

The first one was musically inspired by the playing of John Renbourn from back in the early Pentangle recordings.
Joyce (Sociallite1957) nailed the inspiration for the second piece: early Moody Blues.
Glad you enjoyed them friend!

Love good instrumentals. Intimate, felt like I was right there with you as you strummed your guitar. The second section had a Spanish sound to it. Both make for a lovely listen Mike.

Very nice, it has a kind of olde English yet Celtic flavour. I could hear it at a Renfaire somewhere.

Both peices are great! I particually like, in the first peice, how we can hear you sliding up the fret board in the beggining. To me, that makes it so much more "real" to the point I can visualize you playing. Nice arrangemnets!

Thanks for listening and commenting. I agree that---especially "Child Of Light"---has a bit of a Renaissance feel to it.

Thanks bro.
RE "hear you sliding up the fret board in the beggining": Funny  story...
I had Olive Oil on my fingers from a salad. It caused a lot of sqeaking as I "slid."
Was gonna re-record but never got around to it.
Anyway, I'd have posted this sooner but the sqeaking was so loud I was embarassed. I no longer have the original files so only have the final track to work with. Recently I was able to reduce the sqeaking to an acceptable level through eq notching.
Moral of the story: Never record acoustic guitar after a salad with oil and vinegar! Lol...
