Lyrics
Somewhere Over Greenland

It’s dark on the night flight, somewhere over Greenland
We trip along the northern lights
And I’m somewhere in between the meaning I was looking for
And everything is clearer at forty thousand feet

This tendency to wander has taken me nowhere
You’re not any closer to me
And the world is much smaller than I remember
after all these years dreaming of you

And the solar wind blows
And we lean in and Greenland is under its glow

When we left Colorado I thought you were with me
Our home was a traveling show
And I’d have carried that burden as you would have called it
But my heart couldn’t take it alone

And the northern lights roll
And we lean in and Greenland is under its glow

For eight years I’ve been a sentimental drifting away
And I’ve no one to blame
But up here I see everything so lucidly
And it’s not quite the same
No, it’s not quite the same

It’s dark on the night flight, somewhere over Iceland now
The northern lights fading away
And I’m somewhere in between the answer I was looking for
And I’m sailing on the brink of the love that I was searching for
At forty thousand feet I see
that everything is clearer when you’re with me
everything is clearer when you’re with me
everything is clearer when you’re with me

And the solar wind blows
And we lean in and Greenland is under its glow
Under its glow
Under its glow

Seriously... how has nobody marinated in this song... this song is one of only 3 songs that I downloaded on the original macjams site .. and for years I couldn't find it, now I have it again. I've always said that a download is the highest form of compliment. I've been keeping an eye out for this song, and this past weekend my youngest son was married, so there has been huge distraction for several days, you almost snuck this one past me. It was this song that made me think macjams was an incredibly significant place, and few songs give me goosebumps but there is something so transcendental in the melody and emotion of that moment "and the northern lights glow, and we lean in and Greenland is under it's glow" the way you weave the melody and meter thru that section... you could teach a master class... this is perfection and it still hits me the same way all these years later... thank you

Holey moley...as Scott said, this is really a gem...there's a real emotional power and reasonance to the melody and lyrics that only the best music has

Peter, as I've mentioned a number of times over the years, this remains one of my all-time favourite songs.  When I first heard it all those years ago on MacJams, I realised two things: that there was some great music here and; that I needed to try harder.  I still get goosebumps at the overall vibe, the level of production and performances, and the lyrics.  All are transporting to me.
I could go on and on about this.  I have your (real) CD "Something", and also "Broken Symmetries" (although that CD must be under a couch somewhere atm) - both excellent collections.  Love this!  "Schroedinger's Cat" is one it took me time to warm to - from memory I may even have had the audacity to offer a crit when you first posted it at MJ.  It' is another favourite ...... but I digress.
Are you still writing?
Cheers from Oz.
