The westernmost part of France is called Brittany (Bretagne in french), it's like a piece of UK (landscapes, stone color, Celtic influence) in France and my mother was born in that region. That is surely why I have always been attracted by this celtic culture and this is why I love Mike Oldfield.
Here is a piece about Ireland, a country I visited some years ago. A wonderful country with stunning landscapes and peoples (and beers).

My uncle and aunt and two cousins moved from the US to Ireland permanently probably twenty years ago. I've been a few times. Coincidentally, my wife (Chinese from mainland China) ended up studying abroad in Ireland. The countryside is beautiful. My mom, brother, sister, and I spent a few weeks in Ireland traveling with our Irish relatives. I remember passing a house that had like 100 young beagles. We had to stop. They all had names and the owners knew every one. Saw the Blarney Stone. Years later I traveled to Galway, Dublin, and Belfast. Parts of this song remind me of the countryside and parts remind me of downtown Galway. I like this shift at 7:10. Cool piece, enjoyed.
What a challenging undertaking! The Irish music traditions are providing the inspiration and there is lots of channeling going on, all good stuff. Your travel logs are brilliant. Technical work is off the chart!
I visited Kerry, Ireland for about a week. It was beautiful and I love the people. They are so friendly! Love the Celtic sounds you made here! So good!
Wow!!! This is a travelogue ... different treatments ... so cool...am recalling our visit there! memories! You're a master, Thierry!
I saw you posting this a few days ago and thought: I will save this to the weekend where I have time and proper sound. And I have looked forward. You did not dissapoint. I just downloaded it to my NAS and added it as favorite. As I writes this I listen a third time. This is a masterpiece! You have captured the soul as well as history of Irish music. Back in my 20s my company Motorola had a factory in Swords north of Dublin and I was developing products that were built there. We always stayed at the Grand Hotel in Malahide. The factory was all new and everyone were my age. Noone said "we have always done it like this". Everything was possible.
And we always went out, often going to downtown Dublin for good pubmeals. I learned to love Guinness. And most of all I learned to love Irish music. Clannad, Davy Spillane, MΓ‘ire Brennan, Rita Connolly, The Pogues, Anuna, The Dubliners, Mary Black, are examples of names I learned while I was there. Irish people a good honest people, with a wonderful humour, and a love of beer and music. I miss that time. But then.. later I learned to love the people in Malaysia where we also have a factory.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful piece of music, Thierry. It brought back many good memories of Ireland, and Bretagne which I visited once.
A nice ethereal opening, with good samples. A likeable modal tune appears - is it yours or are you quoting folk song? I think you do a very good job in keeping listener interest, as this is a long piece, but you have several musical sections. An enjoyable listen!
Wow
I never stop admiring your music my old friend, you cover all genres in a fantastic realistic sense, and your music is always interesting
this is truly a Masterpiece, it is too bad we can't collaborate anymore
I have a Celtic background, my Grandmother was from Tipperary, Ireland.
And so this appeals to me.
I do hear a Mike Oldfield influence here! Top-notch work!!
Thierry I somehow lost my original commentary darn but I went through the whole song - highlights are the harp, electric guitar is stunning, male vocals awesome. What a thorough winner! You are awesome! Oh yeah and bagpipes wow!
Finally got some listening commenting time, and this has been on the top of my list.
Absotively gorgeous!
I'm Scotch-Irish on my father's side and have a deep love of Celtic folk and folk rock.
I can't wait to play this for my (Irish/Scandinavian) wife!
A brilliant tour de force this, Thierry.
AWE doesn't begin to cover it brother...

You have a wonderfully huge musical vocabulary... it is evident throughout your work and certainly comes in handy here... always love the width and depth of your soundscapes, but what is more, you took me to that Celtic place... deep respect... the different movements take me through the landscape... listened twice just to learn from you... a 10 minute listen is a lot to ask from people... but you take this and us so many places along the way...
In this marvellous medley you have captured the essence of the Emerald Isle. I love it and so will all Irish folk, I am sure. I had a wonderful time there when I was a student in the 60βs. When I left the country upon completion of my studies, I left my heart behind. Since then, I have returned to Ireland many many times and visited most parts of that beautiful country. Your music has revived many pleasant memories of Ireland for me. Thank you.
