The religious sect known as the Shakers arrived in the U.S. in 1774.They are know for their iconic furniture and joyful music.They created a musical legacy of thousands of songs. The most famous Shaker song is "Simple Gifts", which Aaron Copland used as a theme for variations in Appalachian Spring. My short orchestral piece called “Shaker” is an original work inspired by The Shakers that I hope you enjoy.
