I'm a big fan of Peggy Lee and Diana Krall… Both have done this classic. We are excited to be going on a jazz cruise in about a week and Diana Krall will be headlining.
"Why Don't You Do Right?" (originally recorded as "Weed Smoker's Dream" in 1936) is an American blues and jazz-influenced pop song usually credited to Kansas Joe McCoy. A minor key twelve-bar blues with a few chord substitutions, it is considered a classic "woman's blues" song and has become a standard.

I think I striuck gold tonight...listening to this sure has brought be back to my early 20s ... I didn't know how to dance then...always played music, never learned to dance...until my 50s, and then I would dance 4 times a week with my sweetheart! Love this kind of music! This is a great one for a swooping foxtrot!
Thanks everyone… I've always loved this type of material as we performed at assisted living facilities for many years when I lived in Los Angeles and this is the kind of music they liked. Nothing like the standards. They are so well written, and the instrumentation has always been great
