Song information
Some of you may remember this from iComp. It has been fiddled with, re-mixed and re-mastered. I wrote it when long time collaborator Philip18 (from MacJams) passed away suddenly. See what you think.

Lyrics
Epilogue (Peter Bowen - words and music)

The autumn leaves have faded into my autumn years
The dreams of youth are jaded. I can’t deny my fears.
My body it is ailing, and I have to change my ways.
In hiding from my failings, where are the good old days?

Old sins cast longer shadows. No new tricks for this dog.
The story of my life begins its epilogue.

Life begins at forty, or so the adage goes.
But now I’m nearing sixty, how will that rhyme transpose.
Old stomping grounds of glory, are closed and long torn down.
The piper and the jester, have already left town.

Old sins cast longer shadows. No new tricks for this dog.
The story of my life begins its epilogue.

I’ve ridden my life all the way.
I’ve ridden it all the way.
But the sands of time turn my feet to clay,
And I’m not keeping time at bay.

Family and friends sustain me, they are my Avalon.
But one of them just lately, has crossed the Rubicon.
Life and death and taxes are certain in the end,
But I’d give the family silver to see my friend again.

Old sins cast longer shadows. No new tricks for this dog.
The story of my life begins its epilogue.

I’ve ridden my life all the way.
I’ve ridden it all the way.
But the sands of time turn my feet to clay,
And I’m not keeping time at bay.

I’ve ridden my life all the way.
I’ve ridden it all the way.
But the sands of time turn my feet to clay,
And I’m not keeping time at bay.

Straight into my favs… real songwriting… real performances both vocally and perfect guitar… which sounds wonderful… the vocal delivery is melancholy with a hint of resignation… this song has a certain weight that brings a greater emotional impact… I know life gets busy, but you should be writing… best find this week

Thank you all for your kind support. It was an emotional time for me. Still is. I'm glad to finally get this song down pretty close to the way I imagined it. Hopefully I will get back into writing now that I'm back in a community of talented, like-minded people. Kind regards, Peter.

Hi Kids, boys and girls, iBandstanders one and all. This is a powerful journey through life's reflections. The depth of emotion in those lyrics, paired with the beautiful guitar and vocals, creates a truly moving piece. Perfectly titled! Peter's delivery captures the essence of facing the autumn years, the challenges of aging, and the bittersweet nostalgia for the past. The poetic lyricism paints a vivid picture of life's journey, from the dreams of youth to the inevitability of time's passage. Do I hear a double vocal track? The guitar work is absolutely beautiful, precision guitar playing, thoughtful placement of the organ and a tender guitar solo make this a download keeper! Peter's vocals convey a sense of vulnerability and honesty, making this song a heartfelt and relatable experience. Sung so beautifully with total control. 'Epilogue' is a testament to the universal themes of life, loss, and the enduring power of memories. A truly moving performance that resonates with the human experience. Peter, fantastic job on this one. Just Dick

i read your lyrics with no sound - powerful writing! a true from the heart vocal - no fancy curlicues - just singing what you feel and we believe you. i will wonder about "feat" versus "feet" for a long, long time...:) you've honored your friend so well nice job, Peter

Hi Anne. Thanks for dropping by, and for your kind words. "feat" vs "feet" :-) I couldn't find a copy of the original lyrics so I just typed them up again and didn't notice the typo... Thanks for reading the lyrics so carefully. I have fixed it. Kind regards, Peter.
