Song information
This is an oldie from circa 2010. All the original file stems were lost in the great Mac crash of 2011, so I haven’t been able to remix the tune. As I simply haven’t the will to redo the piece from scratch, this remaster will have to suffice.

As we enter into the holiday season, it’s always good to remind ourselves of what is most important.

The holidays are a difficult time for a good many folks. I encourage one and all to step up and offer love and comfort to any in your respective circles who might be suffering in what should be an exceptionally joyous time. Christmas, Solstice, Hanukkah; etc.—It’s all good!

Peace on earth and goodwill to each and every one of you. (“God bless us every one!”—Tiny Tim)

LOVE RULES!

PS: This will be my last post till the first week of January. Hope to find you all here in the New Year!

Be well my friends!

Lyrics
LOVE RULES
1
I
Most people cry for it.
Some people die for it.
It’s part of everything we do.
Yeah!
Even our hatred, is only self-love.
In spite of everything Love rules!
11
Chorus:
And when in our plain sight,
the darkness shrouds the light;
Love operates behind the scenes.
Love comes, the truth a-wielding,
relentless and unyielding;
and plants its seeds
within our dreams.
11
II
Cast adrift on the ocean of BEING…
Who sent us here, if not Love?
And if for love we do roam,
surely then, Love will guide us all home.
1
I’m not talking about over-rated passion;
the delight of the everlasting fool!
I’m just here to remind you all
—to remind you that Love rules
(and Love rocks too…)
1
III
My soul it pants for you!
I’ll lay my life down for you!
You are the reason of my heart…
Throughout the stormy night;
my anchor and my light…
Oh Love, be my guiding star!
1
Chorus:
And when in our plain sight,
the darkness shrouds the light;
Love operates behind the scenes.
Love comes, the truth a-wielding,
relentless and unyielding;
and plants its seeds
within our dreams!

Thanks Kenneth. Only wish I could remix it and make it a tad more spacious, but with the loss of the stems there's little I can do. I'm glad you find the as-is enjoyable. 😊

Hi Gain! (Do I detect a pun in there somewhere? 😜) The "other instrument" you mention is probably the synth (left channel). Everything else is standard fare: Guitar, bass, organ (right channel), and drum loops. Glad you enjoyed this one friend, and a safe and happy holiday to you as well!

Thanks Omar! Glad you found this enjoyable... As for the possibility of a re-do, it's not at all likely. (If only the original files hadn't been lost. Sigh...) As I said in the "liner notes" I simply haven't the will. I've too many other irons in the fire! Been confining myself to remixing my back catalogue for over a year due to an injured left hand. It's finally healing, and---although I'm still a little stiff---I can play again, and I want to devote myself to a bunch of ideas for new songs that have been germinating in the meantime. Be well friend, and have a safe and happy holiday! 🙂

Mike!!! This is an ambitious work… I love that! I also love how you weave your theme through all these movements while holding to your overarching vision.. great vocal, passionate and really sells conviction.. I’m also digging how you’ve thinly veiled truth, and yet sprinkle it generously across your lyrics… well done…

Scott: Hey old friend, good to see you here on this site! Many thanks for listening and commenting... Re "thinly veiled " truth: Actually, I attempted nothing of the kind. There are any number of ways to express spiritual Reality. For this song I chose to speak in this particular idiom. It just seemed to fit better than the alternatives... Scorpius: Danielle, is it? Anyway, I appreciate both the listen and the kind comment. May your holiday be safe and happy!

Johan: Thanks for listening. Yes, a LOT of work went into this. That's why I'll never attempt a re-do. I'm sooooo lazy! 🥱 Steve: Glad to see you here man! Many thanks for listening and commenting. Great to be back in the saddle, isn't it? 👍😃

Great message in the tune. I, myself, didn't hear anything that needed to be remixed or redone. Great vocals and instrumentation. Well produced as well. I'd say this is first class. I hope your Xmas went well.

Thanks Mark... Christmas was really nice. Time with family, and time just with my wife Diane. Perfect! I appreciate your kind words re this mix. I don't hate it. Just wish it was a tad more spacious. Alas, my mixing skills were much more limited back then. Only a tad better these days... Ha ha... Be well friend!

Arrangement is what stands out most to me in this. Some really cool ideas, in particular I like the driving guitar/bass riffs. Some big and fast paced shifts in lead style almost in passing that were very neat. A lot of creative ideas. Bold instrumentation. But again it's the driving guitar/bass lines that bring it together for me. Enjoyed the listen. Thanks! Nice vocals and mix on "dreams!". And of course, a great message.

Noah: Thanks for the detailed review and the kind words of encouragement. So good to see you here on this great new site! Charley: Re Jethro Tull: Been listening to them since 1970. Not too surprising that some of their influence creeps into my work now and again... Glad you enjoyed the tune friend! 😊
