A blast from the semi distant past!!! I have this stored in external drive- that's how much this recording meant to me. This is timeless. Such a Pristine mix. In an alternative universe, you could have had major hit with this.. Thanks so much for allowing me and the Social-Lites ( formerly the Hooligans) in on this! I bow to you
Hi kids, boys and girls iBandstanders one and all. Ladies and gentlemen, Ole Dick just experienced 'A Rule I'm Gonna Break,' and what a tune it was! The lyrics with phrases like 'rule I'm gonna break' and 'chance I'm gonna take' create an anticipation, a sense of risk and excitement. The repetition of the groove and the simple melody provide a catchy foundation that sticks with you. A method that can be the secret sauce in creating a song that's both accessible and memorable. 'A Rule I'm Gonna Break' seems like the kind of song that could easily become an anthem for those who are ready to take a chance on love.
The vulnerability in the lines 'Look at me, I'm standing here so vulnerable tonight. I'm hoping you'll love me' adds a layer of raw emotion. It's those moments of openness and risk that often lead to some of the most memorable songs.
The chorus with 'Baby, if you walk away, I'll never get enough... Whooo' is both powerful and soulful. Ramona has tapped into a universal theme of longing and the fear of loss, and it's something that many can relate to.
If you were groovin while listening, consider yourself hooked.
Ole Dick is a fan.
Just Dick
Something compelling about this... love the mysterious vibe... sometimes I want lyrics, but it fun to just allow the sound to paint the picture. some folks create etherial atmospheres with keyboards, some use guitars.... you have done it with your vocal, but that breaks no rules...
On a second listen via 'phones, I was impressed by the full sound and the solid backing. Nice vocals too ladies. Might benefit from some slappy bass, but I really enjoyed listening.
Cheers from Oz!
teeth blue .. I'm running it through my water Bluetooth speaker and watching things Bounce Around and the Hooligan little addition is a big multiplier as well ... along with the zestiness of the rest.. I don't mean in reclining I mean as far as remainder. But this coffee is darkening my teeth.
Miss Pop!
I've always loved your work Ramona .. and this one goes down the same lane that I named "Naajilane". It means a path of joy and uplifting spirits (just made that up lol)...Great work Ladies!
I almost right away thought of the stuff the Eurythmics did around 1983 or '84 when I heard this. This could have been one of their tunes, although it isn't. Very nice and very well done.
